Barossa Vintage Festival

The 2023 Barossa Vintage Festival celebrates 75 years in style with 75 events across the region showcasing the Barossa’s incredible wine, food, art and culture.

Experience what it’s like to live in one of the best regions in the world; go behind the scenes with some of the region’s top winemakers; secure rare and distinguished wines direct from producers, learn the tricks of the trade with local artisans, slow down and enjoy as renowned chefs present their pick of local produce.

And there are plenty of fun things to do with your kids including interactive art events, old-world markets from another time and the ever-popular Vintage Festival Parade. Take a look at some of the family-friendly picks of the festival!

Top things to do with your family at Barossa Vintage Festival! 

I See You Like This by Jessica Wilson

‘I See You Like This’ by artist Jessica Wilson is an interactive photo studio event, pairing child and guardian in an experience that turns the camera back on the parent so they can see how they are viewed by their little loved ones. The experience includes the opportunity for the child to adorn their guardian with props, and to work with an artist and local photographer, to capture an incredible professional portrait which will be on display during Festival days.

Ziegenmarkt

Step back in time to a bygone era and get lost in this bustling live market atmosphere. Literally meaning ‘goat market’, Ziegenmarkt first appeared in Tanunda during the mid-1800s and is brought back to life every two years for the Vintage Festival. Immerse yourself in the heritage of Barossa’s old-world live auction; bid for fresh produce, preserves, pickles and smallgoods; taste the local fare and soak up the excitement and atmosphere of Ziegenmarkt. Treat yourself to a Barossa breakfast, with an abundance of wine, food, and fresh and ready-to-eat produce including traditional Barossa rote grütze. A fun, free family-friendly event with entertainment the whole family will enjoy.

Sunset at Seppeltsfield Road 

Overlook the vineyards as the sun sets over Seppeltsfield Road’s famous Avenue of Palms for one of the region’s most iconic and unforgettable experiences. Settle into the afternoon on the road as the festival brings together more than 20 wineries, distilleries, food, art and music as you tip your hat off to this ‘money can’t buy experience’.

Vintage Festival Parade

Pack a picnic and join the locals lining the streets for this fun family day out, with floats decorated and presented by local businesses, wineries and community groups! A hallmark event since the second Vintage Festival, the Parade has been a proud Barossa tradition since the float procession was introduced in 1948. With Kerbside views across the 8km expanse of the parade route on the Barossa Valley Way, find your vantage point for spectating this show-stopper event guaranteed to entertain, amuse and delight.

Route: Tanunda to Nuriootpa | 22 April 2023, 10am-1pm | Free

Paddock to Plate 

What better way to wind down from the Barossa Vintage Festival 2023, than on the grounds of Thorn-Clarke with our family while you enjoy some new release reds tasting and the kids enjoy lawn games. Warm up by the fire bowl and immerse yourself in our spectacular views, music by Colonel Mustard and food to warm the soul. Thorn-Clarke Wines are family-owned, estate grown, sustainability accredited and focused, and it’s all here to see and enjoy! Tickets include a Thorn-Clarke glass, 7 tastings and a chargrilled lamb yiros. Bring a deck chair, your friends, your family or just come alone and mingle with our team.
