Life Business Expo
Life Business Expo will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Daytona Beach Shores Community Center. 3000 Bellemead Drive.
The event is free and open to the public.
Business may sign up for a table to meet and network with the public and other businesses. Indoor vendors will be provided an eight-foot table and two chairs for $50. Outdoor vendors will be provided a tent, eight-foot table and two chairs for $75. Tablecloths will be provided or you may bring your own.

Golf club restaurant opens
The Sand Trap Bar & Grille at the Daytona Beach Golf Club has opened at 600 Wilder Blvd.
The restaurant serves a variety of dishes, including burgers, hot dogs, soups, omelets and breakfast burritos. The restaurant also offers rental space for gatherings and celebrations.

Outriggers adds banquets manager
Outriggers Tiki Bar & Grille in New Smyrna Beach has added Jamie O’Connell to its team as banquets manager.
Ms. O’Connell was a private party planner for 12 years, teaming up with several local venues and functions throughout Volusia County. A resident of DeBary, Ms. O’Connell has been a Volusia resident since she was four years old.
She will help facilitate functions for Outriggers while attracting residents of Seminole County into New Smyrna Beach as well as networking with local and civic organizations.

Registration is open for the Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce Business Expo & Home Show.
The event will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, along Canal Street and at the Brannon Center, 105 S. Riverside Drive, New Smyrna Beach.
Scholarships and vendors booths are available. The event is open to the public. There will be entertainment, food trucks and a fashion show.

Southern States donates to Family Renew Community
The Southern States Management Group Foundation donated $30,000 to Family Renew Community in December.
It was the proceeds from the foundation’s Golf Classic, which was Sept. 26 at the Conservatory at Hammock Beach in Palm Coast.
“Escalating costs for housing and essentials such as food and clothing are pushing more families who live paycheck to paycheck over the brink of homelessness,” stated Rev. Tony Deobil, FRC executive director. “This infusion of funds will allow us to keep up with our own rising costs as we offer them a safe, stable home and equip them with the tools they need to be self-sufficient.”

A separate homeowners association board certification course will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, via Zoom.

AM Connection set
The West Volusia Regional Chamber of Commerce AM Connection will meet at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, in the Center at Deltona, 1640 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd.

Extension offers homebuyer classes
The University of Florida/Volusia County Extension offers pre-purchase first-time homebuyer workshops that meet the education requirement for housing assistance programs.
Extension Agent Lisa Hamilton, a HUD-certified housing counselor and accredited financial counselor, will instruct the virtual classes on Microsoft Teams.
English language classes will be conducted at:
•9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 20
•5 to 9 p.m. Feb. 16 and 23
•9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 17 and 24
•5 to 9 p.m. April 4 and 11
Spanish language classes will be conducted at:
•5 to 9 p.m. Feb. 9 and 10
•9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 30 (one day)
•5 to 9 p.m. April 20 and 27
The classes consist of eight hours of education. Completion allows participants to apply for house-buying assistance from Volusia County and the City of Deltona.
The cost is $10 per household. Scholarships are available upon request.

Mayors’ Breakfast & Awards will be Feb. 1
The Mayors’ Breakfast & Awards will be at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Riverside Pavilion, 3431 S. Ridgewood Ave., Port Orange.
The event features the mayors of Port Orange, South Daytona and Daytona Beach Shores, and honors an outstanding firefighter, police officer or public safety officer from all three cities.

Daytona chamber 103rd annual meeting
The Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce will gather for its 103rd annual meeting from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort, 100 N. Atlantic Ave., Daytona Beach.
The feature presentation will be U.S. Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Nebraska, who will be interviewed in a fireside chat format by Lt. Gov. Jeannette Nunez. Sen. Sasse resigned Jan. 8 and will become president of the University of Florida.
The chamber also will present the J. Hyatt Brown Enterprise Award to Volusia County Emergency Management and the Glenn Ritchey Leadership Award to Randy Dye.
The cost is $150 for members and $200 for non-members. Registration will close at 11:59 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6. Drink Wristbands are available to buy at $75 per person. A cash bar also will be available. Bars will be closed during the program.
