Children’s book author to visit Orcas Island
Submitted by Vicki O’Keefe.
When you open some books, a breath of fresh air blows back your hair. Ellie Peterson writes those kinds of children’s books. Peterson will visit the Orcas School District on Friday, Oct. 7 all day. She is a picture book author, illustrator, and former educator living in the Seattle area. Her work is inspired by the countless interactions with kids after 20 wonderful years as a classroom teacher.
“My goal is to make books that amuse, intrigue, and inspire children of all,” she says.
O’Keefe illustrated Bea’s Bees, written by Katherine Pryor. She wrote and illustrated It’s a Round, Round World! The Reason for the Seasons, How to Hug a Pufferfish and School is Wherever I am. She is currently working on a graphic novel Home is Calling (summer 2023). In addition to her visit to Orcas Island School District on Friday, she will be appearing at Orcas Library from 11:30 a.m. to noon reading followed by Darvill’s Bookstore on Saturday, October 8th from noon to 2 p.m. signing copies. She will also visit Salmonberry School on Monday, Oct. 10 in the morning.
