Two attacks along Niger’s border with Burkina Faso have killed 39 people, Niamey’s defence ministry said Saturday, accusing “criminals” of massacring civilian populations. The borderlands between Niger, Burkina Faso and Mali have long been home to armed insurgents linked to the Islamic State group and Al-Qaeda.
