Northern Nigeria has been plunged into darkness for nearly two weeks. Engineers have been unable to carry out repairs following insecurity. The Transmission Company of Nigeria says gunmen are occupying the area where the line is damaged. The power supply is crippled in 19 of Nigeria’s 36 states, depriving millions of electricity and paralysing economic activity. There are now plans to deploy troops to the affected areas.
