It’s billed as the most hotly contested in thirty years that could mark a historic setback for the ANC, which has been in power since the end of apartheid. For many of South Africa’s 62 million people, the ANC has failed to deliver on promises to revive education, water and housing – with inequality on the rise, power cuts frequent and the highest global rate of unemployment a top issue for citizens.
