The Children’s Book Review
What to Expect: Fantasy, adventure, rhyming, facing challenges and overcoming obstacles.
Originally a Kickstarter campaign, Stardust: A Journey to Remember follows a young adventurer named Naledi on a journey across universes and the infinity of time and space. Along the way, they face challenges and overcome obstacles to discover the person they were meant to become.
In this book, author and poet Garrett Brill uses thoughtful messaging to convey the lessons Naledi learns along their odyssey of self-discovery. Readers, young and old, will relate to the theme of personal growth while enjoying the cadence of the poetry Brill has crafted. This book would make a lovely read-aloud for younger audiences as there is a charming lilt to the words when spoken out loud.
Presented in a soft color palette with multiple facets to explore, illustrator Daniel Fleck has produced whimsical and fluid illustrations that help readers connect to the words of the story. Each page provides various focal points, allowing for a smooth transference of the author’s message.
From a child discovering themselves to a High School graduate setting off into the world, each and every reader will find something relatable within the pages. Stardust: A Journey to Remember is bound to be your new favorite gift book!
