Global Education Monitoring Report Director Manos Antoninis on Saturday told FRANCE 24 that despite global progress in gender equality in education, there remains pockets of exclusion from education for girls in countries in West Africa and Afghanistan, according to a recent study published by UNESCO. This is often due to recurring problems such as “discrimination and lack of belief in girls’ potential”, Antoninis said, adding that poverty is also an important factor preventing girls from receiving education.
