The World Food Program this week sounded the alarm over growing food insecurity in the Sahel as it published its latest report on the region. “Nearly 15 million people will be concerned by food insecurity by June 2024 across West and Central Africa,” FRANCE 24’s correspondent Harold Girard said, citing the WFP. Central Sahel is one of the most affected areas due to ongoing conflicts and political instability, according to the report. “In Niger, four million people depend on humanitarian assistance,” Girard said.
