Book Review of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
The Children’s Book Review
What to Expect: Humor and Friendship
The story has to be entertaining when it’s set in a town called Chewandswallow. There is a Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs movie based on the book, but it’s quite a bit different.
Chewandswallow appears to be like any other town. What makes it unique is that the weather comes three times a day. Once for breakfast, once for lunch, and once for dinner. What’s so special about that, you ask? Well, for starters, it doesn’t rain or snow in Chewandswallow. No, among other delectable items, it rains juice and snows mashed potatoes, and a giant jello sets in the sky after dinner.
The people of the town are all pleased and well-fed without a worry in the world until things get messy as the food portions blow out of proportion and cause severe storm damage. Nobody wants to be squashed flat by a pancake. How will the people survive? What will they do?
This bedtime story is just completely absurd; that’s why you’ll love it. The pages are as full as a banquet dinner; you can pour over them and relish in all the details and extra laughs they provide.
