The Lions Park Playground in the heart of Strathalbyn has it all for climbing, swinging and sliding for older kids.
Review by Adaire Prosser
Located in the Lions Park in the middle of Strathalbyn, you will find this fully fenced playground has a lot to offer older kids who love to swing and climb. There are nets, climbing walls and monkey bars and rings set up in a circuit that will challenge confident climbers.
Other features that the older kids will enjoy include a large steep slide for speed, and a small flying fox. If your child is not much of a climber, there are two swing sets plus a net swing too.
The playground has been planned well, with a full fence, large shade sails and close to amenities. There is a picnic table and seats within the fenced area, but also plenty of seating in the main Lions Park which is a beautiful setting for a picnic lunch. There is also a carpark adjacent to the playground which makes it a handy pit stop. If you find yourself in the area make sure you plan a play stop here.
Things to Consider:
- It is a nice shaded playground, but hats and sunscreen will still be required on hot sunny days.
- The play equipment is ideal for ages 5 and up, some of the equipment will be difficult for younger kids to navigate.
Our favourite nearby coffee spots/cafes:
- Strath Corner Bakery – Corner of Dawson St & South Tce. Approx. 5-10 minute walk.
- The Vault – Commercial Road. Approx. 5 minute walk.
- Bean Machine – Commercial Road. Approx. 5 minute walk.
- Victoria Hotel – Albyn Terrace. Approx. 5 minute walk.
Location:
The Lions Park Playground is located on Colman Terrace, Strathalbyn. There is a dedicated car park on Colman Terrace.
