Hutton Reserve boasts a great playground for both toddlers and older kids in the heart of historic Kanmantoo.
Review by Adaire Prosser
Hutton Reserve at Kanmantoo has a wide range of play equipment to suit all ages and a nice grassed area for play and picnics. Located off the main street of Kanmantoo, which is about 15 minutes east of Nairne in the Adelaide Hills, the playground was updated at the end of 2024. Both toddlers and older kids will find enjoyment in this well designed playground.
For the toddlers, there are swings, rockers, a small slide with nice wide steps as well as the cutest play café to play shop.
Older kids will also find plenty to keep them busy and challenged, with a large set of play equipment that has a range of obstacles to reach the slide at the end.
For kids who love to swing, there is a great range including a normal swing set, a net swing and this hammock style swing.
The playground also has a net spinner and an ant with a musical bottom.
In addition to the amazing playground and large grassed area, the reserve also has toilets, shaded BBQ area, basketball courts and is fully fenced. The playground is also set all the way back from the main road to avoid noise.
The Kanmantoo general store is a 5 minute walk from the reserve. There are a variety of food options if you want to stop for lunch, and there are some beautiful historic homes to see as you walk. Otherwise the reserve is a beautiful space to bring a picnic or BBQ lunch.
Things to Consider:
- The main playground area is unshaded, so make sure to take hats & sunscreen
- Dogs are allowed on this reserve, but need to be leashed near the playground area
Our favourite nearby coffee spots/cafes:
- The Kanmantoo General Store has coffee and food options, and is a 5 minute walk from the reserve
- Little Birdy Bakery in Nairne, about 15 minutes drive
- Pallet Café in Nairne, about 15 minutes drive
- Marketplace Café in Littlehampton, about 20 minutes drive
Location:
Hutton Reserve is located on Old Princes Hwy, the main road through Kanmantoo. You can find allocated parking on the side of the street.
