Warrego Crescent Reserve Playground | Linden Park | Review

Warrego Crescent Reserve Playground in Linden Park is a small but well-designed playground hiding at the end of a laneway.

Review by Claire Davill

Warrego Reserve is tucked away in the middle of a residential block, only accessible by two narrow laneways. It’s a hidden oasis with a playground, tennis courts, basketball court and a picnic shelter.

Entry points for the reserve are from Warrego Crescent or Keyes Street, and both laneways are signposted but they’re easy to miss.

The playground here is small but it’s an excellent design and great for kids who like to climb. The multiple ropes and monkey bars are arranged like a mini ninja warrior course, and provide a great range of challenges for kids of all sizes and abilities.

There are two climbing nets – one arching and one that is funnel-shaped, tightropes to traverse, wobbly planks and even wobbling monkey bars. The monkey bars are particularly challenging.

A small slide sits at one end of the climbing frame and nearby is a basket swing. The climbing frame and basket swing are surrounded by rubber soft fall, with steps leading up to the landscaped gardens surrounding the playground.

There’s a lovely rotunda style picnic shelter here, but no rubbish bins or BBQ. There is a drinking fountain next to the picnic shelter.

There are three tennis courts in the reserve, and a basketball court with hoops at each end. The basketball court also has a four square court painted on it.

There’s also a good painted hopscotch on the basketball court.

There is a single toilet block in the reserve, that is fully accessible. There’s also some small sections of lawn and plenty of shade from the large trees.

Things to Consider:

  • While not fully fenced, the reserve only has access to roads via two laneways that open onto quiet residential streets.
  • On street parking is available on Warrego Crescent and Keyes Street. Warrego Crescent is quieter.
  • The toilet is wheelchair accessible but there is no change table inside.
  • There is no shade sail over the playground, but the large trees provide some shade, especially in the mornings.
  • Bring tennis rackets, basketballs and tennis balls for the courts and four square.

Our favourite nearby coffee spots/cafes:

  • Bakery On Linden, a cafe that serves pies, cakes and coffee, is located a 2 minute drive away on the corner of Portrush Road and Hay Road.

Location:

Warrego Crescent Reserve, Linden Park. Access from Warrego Crescent and Keyes Street, both link to Sturdee Street.
