Unleash your adrenaline at Adelaide’s ultimate entertainment complex, boasting e-karts, arcade games, and golf simulators.

Review by Carla Caruso

The term, ‘one-stop shop’, gets bandied around a lot. But this entertainment complex, near Hindmarsh’s Coopers Stadium, truly is such a thing.

Opened in January 2024, P1 Entertainment Complex is the only place in Adelaide to offer go-karts, golf simulators, arcade games, and a bar and restaurant all under the one roof.

Recently, I headed there with my husband and eleven-year-old twin sons. Not only did we find a reprieve from the dreary autumn weather, we had a blast!

Electric go-karts

First up, we tried out the e-karts. We had to undergo a quick safety briefing before being let loose on the 300m-long, Formula 1-inspired circuit.

We also had to wear full-face helmets (which were provided) and white balaclavas. The latter can be purchased on-site for $4 each. I had to tie up my hair too.

‘Cadet racers’ – aged 7 to 12 or 120-150cm tall – race for approximately eight minutes per session. ‘Adult racers’ – aged 13+ or 150-195cm tall – race for about 10 minutes a session. Though the time sounds short, it doesn’t feel like it when you’re on the track.

Nicely, the go-karts are not only eco-friendly, but friendly on your ears, compared to noisy, petrol-powered go-karts. They can take up to 172kg in weight and have adjustable seating.

Whether you’re a pro go-kart racer or it’s your first time behind the wheel, the karts are fairly easy to get the hang of. Or, if you prefer, you can just be a passenger in a dual go-kart like me.

We had a great time navigating the circuit’s 14 pulse-pounding turns and LED-lined straights, at up to 50km per hour.

It’s worth noting that the go-karts are equipped with safety features such as roll cages, seatbelts, and remote shut-off systems, and are all monitored by trained track marshals.

With the circuit being indoors, it offers year-round fun. You’ll feel like Lewis Hamilton walking off the track.

Golf simulators, plus bar and restaurant

If you’re looking to fill the LIV Golf-shaped hole in your life at present, then you need to get yourself to P1 Entertainment.

The complex has four golf simulator bays. At your bay, you can use the driving range mode to practise your swing with multiple sensor tracking, or immerse yourself in lifelike gameplay. Have a round at California’s Pebble Beach or take on the historic challenges of Scotland’s St Andrews!

You can even customise your environment with adaptable settings, from wind speed to spin.

Players of all ages and levels can take a virtual swing. My only experience with golf is the putt-putt variety and I had great fun teeing off.

Even better, there’s no walking involved or weather hassles!

During our half-hour session, we also shared some food from the bar/restaurant at our bay. Think crispy karaage chicken, pork dumplings, and a grilled chicken salad.

Other tasty items on offer include pizza, Wagyu beef skewers, squid balls, ramen, churros, and croissants. Conveniently, there’s a kids’ menu too.

Beverages, meanwhile, range from cocktails to spirits, beer, wine, soft drinks, and coffee.

Arcade

Did somebody say ‘arcade zone’? P1’s gaming centre offers more than 50 arcade games, from timeless classics to the newest releases.

Race your family (or friends) on the Daytona racing simulator, shoot hoops with the basketball simulator, or face off across the air hockey table.

As well, you can test your skills with interactive machines, from the Mega Stacker to the Maxi-Claw, and collect prizes. Grab some tokens or take advantage of one its deals, as we did with our half-hour ‘unlimited’ session.

As a venue, P1 can also cater for parties, work functions, golf training, go-kart challenges, and more.

Get set for some unbridled thrills and unforgettable fun.

Location:

41/55 Holden St, Hindmarsh SA
