The Minlaton Playground has something for every kid to enjoy which makes it the perfect pit-stop on the Yorke Peninsula.

Review by Adaire Prosser

There is something for everyone at the Minlaton Playground. Located just as you drive into town, this fully fenced playground has a variety of swings, slides, climbing options and more for every age and ability.

Toddlers and early walkers will have fun on this smaller scale playspace, with wide steps that are easy to navigate, a tunnel, and small slide.

There is also a swing set, a net swing, a seesaw and lots of various rockers that are perfect for kids of all ages.

Older kids are really spoiled for choice here. There is a large play set with a bridge, two slides and lots of nets and obstacles for climbing along. There is also a rock climbing wall, monkey bars and a flying fox.

There are various spinners for kids who love a bit of sensory stimulation and a sandpit digger. A large tree offers some shady areas, but a large portion of the playground is unshaded.

Toilets are located just outside the fenced area, and there is a memorial to Harry Butler, a WWI pilot from Minlaton and his famous aircraft the “Red Devil”. There are also tennis courts plus a skate park located on the grounds.

The playground is located in a handy spot, just at the entrance into Minlaton for families driving through. It makes for the perfect pit stop for the kids to stretch their legs. It is also just across the road from the Minlaton Caravan Park for families that are staying there.

Things to Consider:

  • Make sure you have hats and sunscreen on sunny days
  • The playground is sandy, but a nearby tree drops some spiky nuts – little ones may want shoes for their feet

Our favourite nearby coffee spots/cafes:

  • Ye Olde Café Minlaton – 59 Main St Minlaton
  • Rendezvous Café – 16 Main St Minlaton
  • Caffe Primo at Minlaton Hotel – 26 Main St Minlaton – Read our review here [insert link once published]

Location:

Minlaton Playground is located on the corner of Main Road/Spencer Hwy and Yorke Hwy. There is a slip lane with space for parking.
