DinoFest Dinosaur Festival 2025 | Victoria Park, Adelaide | Review

Dinosaurs that walk right past you, dinosaurs you can pat, and lots of activities and fun for all dino loving kids!

By Claire Davill

DinoFest is back with a new location in Victoria Park/Pakapakanthi in Adelaide’s south-eastern parklands. This is a great location, as there’s more room to move, the dinosaur arena is larger and it’s easier to get right next to the action.

DinoFest includes a 45 minute encounter with walking dinosaurs and smaller dinosaurs that are carried by the expert dinosaur wranglers in the arena. This area is a large circle that ensures all the kids have a front row seat. Kids are encouraged to pat the dinosaurs as they pass by, and the hosts keep the audience hyped with information about each dinosaur and a steady stream of corny jokes.

Following the encounter, there is a large dinosaur trail full of dinosaur statues to explore, and many of these move and roar. Photo opportunities are everywhere, and the new setting shows dinosaurs in realistic bush settings. There’s also plenty of information signs about each species.

Don’t forget to snap a picture with the giant dinosaur heads, or inside the giant eggs. Keep an eye out for the dinosaurs that kids can hop on for a ride as well.

After the arena encounter the dinosaur wranglers will be out and about with some of the dinosaurs for more pats and photos. This is a great opportunity to pat the dinosaurs in a quieter, less overwhelming situation.

There’s also plenty of activities to explore, including the chance to pick up and hold fossils, art stations, temporary tattoos and a fossil dig pit.

There are toilets onsite, plenty of shade, sunscreen and water available and some cute plush dinosaur toys for sale.

Outside of the fence there is a coffee van (that also sells fruit juice and home made biscuits) and an icecream van. You’re free to head out to the food stalls and back in to the fenced area during your allotted 1.5 hour timeslot.

Things to consider:

  • Free parking is available at both ends of Beaumont Road, but it’s recommended to park at the end that connects to the corner of South Terrace and East Terrace. There’s lots of car parks here, and very little traffic. It’s a short, flat walk to Dinofest from here.
  • Some of the dinosaurs are loud, and some are quite big. They move slowly around the arena so if your kids are a bit nervous about any of them, it’s easy to move back to avoid getting too close.
  • You’ll have a bit of time to explore the activities before the arena encounter. There’s plenty of room for everyone around the arena so there’s no need to save a spot.
  • The dinosaur trail opens after the arena encounter, and there’s plenty of time to explore this area.
