Cirque Kalabanté – Afrique en Cirque: Adelaide Fringe 2025 Review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars for a vibrant spectacle of African culture, acrobatics & music
Review by Sharon Harrington
Cirque Kalabanté – Afrique en Cirque is a uniquely African experience that blends acrobatics, dance and music. It’s upbeat, joyous and thoroughly entertaining!
The show is set to live music, with thrilling drum sequences and beautiful melodies played on the West African string instrument, the Kora.
The acrobatics are high energy and jaw dropping. There are dazzling cyr wheel sequences, flips, juggling, human pyramids and one stunning scene involving a human tower which took my breath away.
A contortionist twists and bends his body into unthinkable positions, which is both compelling and somewhat uncomfortable to watch!
This is a great show to take the whole family along to, especially if you have older children who have outgrown some of the children’s shows at the Fringe. Our Play & Go 8 & 9 year olds were sitting on the edge of their seats awed by the performances and taken in by the energetic vibes of this production.
The age range suggests 8 years plus, however, younger children may also enjoy the show, as long as they can tolerate lively performers, loud music and drum beats.
Cirque Kalabanté – Afrique en Cirque is playing at Gluttony until 23 March 2025.
