Matthew Road Reserve Playground | Nairne | Review

Tucked away in Nairne, the Matthew Road Reserve has a well-designed playground where you can relax and watch the kids explore.

Review by Adaire Prosser

This hearty playground is well-maintained and has a range of obstacles for young children to test their capabilities. There is a single and double slide, and a wooden slat bridge that kids love crossing over. There is also a small tunnel leading to an array of different options to challenge climbing abilities.

This playground is suitable for toddlers still finding confidence, with nice wide steps with handrails, low incline slides, and lots of fun options for play underneath the main playground. Make sure you have a spare hand to help them across the bridge where there is a gap between the railing.

Bring a friend or a sibling to enjoy the dual slide, double swing set or seesaw. They will also be able to set up pretend shop underneath the playground.

The playground has great morning shade thanks to a nearby tree, but gets a lot of afternoon sun so make sure to bring hats and sunscreen. It is fully enclosed for piece of mind, but there are no toilet facilities in walking distance (the closest public toilets are at Byethorne Park – a two minute drive away). Up the top of the reserve is also a beginners BMX pump track.

Things to Consider:

  • There are open sections across the playground – stay within reach of smaller children.
  • Bring hats & sunscreen for the midday/afternoon sun.
  • There are no toilets on the reserve. The closest public toilets are at Byethorne Park which is two minutes by car.

Location:

The Playground is located on the northern side of Matthew Road, Nairne. There are some parks located on the side of the road.
