Best of Kids Fringe: Adelaide Fringe 2025 Review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars for a tasting platter of Fringe family fun
Review by Sharon Harrington
Not sure what to see with the family at the Fringe this year? Why not try the Best of Kids Fringe in The Garden of Unearthly Delights. With a rotating line up of different family friendly acts, you’ll get a taste of comedy, magic and clowning and more.
The day we went the show kicked off with Tahir – The World’s Best Worst Magician. We knew we were in for a treat when he asked the audience if we were ready for “some fully sick tricks”. Tahir Bilgiç is well known for his acting work on Fat Pizza and brings a natural comedic style to his magical illusions. He was delightful to watch even before the magic started!
Next up was the mysterious, slightly bizarre, hunchback clown, Dado. The crowd gasped when he gave a sweet little girl a red balloon, only to brandish a pair of scissors ready to cut the string for it to blow away, explaining, “What…? That is life…” Of course, (spoiler) it was all part of an elaborate magic act.
Following was Donal Vaughan, who had a science show at the Fringe in 2024 called Science Magic: Crazy Gadgets. My little science-obsessed daughter loved this part of the show, and was chuffed to be an assistant on stage. Donal threw in lots of jokes for the adults, and showcased some great little science “tricks” that the audience can try themselves at home.
The last act of the show was a smash hit with the crowd. Miss C Balloonologist had the kids in fits of laughter with her “big balloon” dancing. Miss C blows up an enormous balloon and gradually steps inside it, all the while wiggling, dancing and bouncing to some fab beats.
The host, Matty Grey, from 101 Ways to Annoy your parents and other really old people – THE HOLIDAY SPECIAL, guides the show along with humour, introducing each performer and hyping up the crowd.
Best of Kids Fringe was a great show to get a taste of what’s available at the Fringe for families. Check it out at The Garden of Unearthly Delights until 23 March 2025.
