New Year's Eve fun at home with sparklers

CELEBRATE AT HOME

A party at home with friends and family – keep it simple with a BBQ or have everyone bring a plate to share.

♥ Glow sticks are a must for the kids as well as sparklers and party poppers.

♥ Lots of balloons or coloured balls on a trampoline is a favourite with our kids.

♥ Water balloons if it’s warm.

♥ Getting the good old Slip n Slide out is always fun.

♥ If you have little ones, turn your clocks forward a few hours so you can do the ‘midnight’ countdown a few hours earlier.

♥ Open up those boxes of chocolates you received for Christmas to share on New Year’s Eve – it’s a great way to use up some or all of these treats.

♥ We also love this idea of a ‘Year End Interview’ with the kids by Hands On: as we grow. Ask the kids some questions about their favourite things right now, as a keepsake. You could get them to write it down or make a video. Get the free printable here.

PICNIC AT THE BEACH

Take a picnic or pick up your favourite takeaway and head to the beach to celebrate by the sea.  Take chairs, blankets and towels and some games to play, such as beach cricket, a frisbee or a simple bucket and spade for building sand castles.  Enjoy an early dinner of fish and chips then stay to watch the sunset before lighting up some sparklers and opening some glow sticks.

PICNIC AT A LOCAL PARK

If you prefer to keep away from the sand, head to your local park for a picnic on the grass.  Many parks have BBQ facilities, or simply take a picnic or pick up takeaway from a nearby cafe or restaurant. Take extra seats as park benches and tables are often already taken.  Playgrounds offer hours of free fun and you won’t have a mess to clean up at home!

However you decide to celebrate the start of the New Year please stay safe and have a wonderful time!

We hope 2025 brings good health, happiness, fun times and special moments to treasure.
