What to Expect: Trains, adventure, imagination, and problem-solving.

This picture book, written to appeal even to the youngest readers, features a simple but imaginative plot and two silly main characters whose antics are sure to please.

Mr. Mazoo and Mr. Tyler were playing with their toy train set when they had an excellent idea—wouldn’t it be fun to be small like the train so they could ride on it? As luck would have it, Mr. Mazoo and Mr. Tyler don’t just have toy trains; they also have a shrinking machine. They shrank themselves down and had a lot of fun riding the train set—until it was time to eat, and they were too small to open the refrigerator! What’s the solution? Back into the shrinking machine, of course, to get big again. Mr. Mazoo and Mr. Tyler had a VERY eventful day!

Mr. Tyler and Mr. Mazoo are like two little kids themselves, from their desire to play to their inability to think through consequences, and the juxtaposition with their grown-up appearance will have readers laughing as well as sympathizing. The story features complex, playful language, helping readers build literacy and comprehension skills and enjoy the imaginative story. Digital artwork in bright, primary colors, complemented by the closing lines in the story, reminds readers of the potential for amazement in the world around them.

Mr. Mazoo and Mr. Tyler is a fun story for younger readers, perfect for reading again and again.
