Calling All Junior Photographers!
Does your child have a passion for photography? Maybe they’d like to enter their pics in the 2025 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year competition.
Owned and produced by the South Australian Museum, the competition is open to both amateur and professional photographers of any age so it’s a great opportunity for budding junior photographers to showcase their talent.
Junior photographers need to be under 18 years old when entries close on 6 February 2025. They can submit up to four photos that fit the criteria of in any of the competition’s nine categories, ranging from Animals in Nature to Landscapes, for the full category list visit the competition website. The Junior Category winner takes home $500 with the runner up winning $250.
Plus, all of the finalist entries will be included in an exhibition displayed at the South Australian Museum where the stunning beauty of our natural world is showcased, with professional, emerging and junior photographers alike showing impeccable timing and patience to capture superb moments in time. So what are you waiting for? Send the kids outside to get snapping!
Entries close at 5pm ACDT on Thursday 6 February 2025.
Prize winners will be announced by the South Australian Museum on Thursday 28 August 2025.
Basic details of entry for Junior Photographers:
- The entrant must be under 18 years of age at the date of close of entries.
- Entries must fit the criteria of any of the other categories.
- Photographers under 18 years are only eligible to enter the Junior category and are not eligible for the Overall Prize.
- Junior Photography entry cost: A$10.00 (includes GST) for the first image and A$5.00 (includes GST) for each subsequent image.
- Entries can only be submitted online via the entry portal at www.naturephotographeroftheyear.com.au, which is available only during the competition period.
- Entries in all sections are invited from photographers who use either digital or film cameras. Judges will consider the photographic technique plus the aesthetic, artistic and unique quality of all images when making their selections.
