The little blue heritage building on the north east corner of Victoria Park/Pakapakanthi has a new tenant and importantly, they have great coffee!
Having been empty for a number of years since the closure of Kiosk on 16, then temporarily leased by Imber’s Donuts for a brief period in 2024, the fully restored heritage listed building near the Britannia roundabout is now the new home for a local small business – Lola Coffee.
With the permanent closure of the Velo Precinct (re-opened as Vic Park Grandstand for lunch and dinner) there is certainly a need for a fabulous morning coffee spot for the dozens of regular walkers, runners and families who head to Victoria Park on weekends. The quaint blue building right next to the Victoria Park Social Club is the perfect spot to take a break, let the kids run around on the grass or ride their bikes and scooters around the track.
The menu includes hot and cold drinks, gelato, toasties and a selection of pastries.
The large, permanent outdoor umbrella offers shaded seating, plus there are picnic benches and numerous foldable tables and chairs shaded by colourful umbrellas.
For the four legged family members there is a cute stand by Georgie Paws selling dog accessories.
This area of Victoria Park is surprisingly quiet, despite being quite close to the Britannia roundabout. The area is partially fenced from the main roads, with the seating area facing in towards Victoria Park’s Criterium Track. There are public toilets at the rear of the grandstand.
When not in use for official events, there is so much to do at Victoria Park, from fitness stations and walking trails to the criterium track and wetlands. It’s a regular spot for locals to exercise their dogs (must be on a lead near the track) and busy with families on weekends and during the school holidays. Families love this area for riding bikes and scooters, kicking a ball or flying a kite on a windy day.
