HEXADECA in Rundle Mall – Spin, relax, stay a while.
HEXADECA returns to Rundle Mall featuring a dream-like installation of custom-built spinner seats, inviting exploration and interaction from participants from all walks of life.
People of all ages and abilities are encouraged to engage with the seats however they see fit – whether it’s finding a spot to sit and enjoy, spinning the seats to activate sound, or observing as interaction dictates which singular elements of a whole musical score are heard.
The architecturally-designed aural playground draws upon modern technology and collaborations with composers and musicians to invite the public to become the conductor.
How it works:
- Music is made
- Music is split into 16 parts
- Each 1/16 of music is assigned to a seat
- Someone comes along and spins a seat. This triggers one part of the music to play
- When every seat is spinning, the whole track is heard
