Relaxed, Sensory-Friendly Evening at the South Australian Museum
A sensory-friendly evening for visitors of all ages, their families, friends and support workers.
Visitors with sensory or accessibility needs such as autism can enjoy a quieter, less crowded visit to the Museum after hours. This is a chance to see all of the permanent galleries, and maybe discover something you’ve never noticed before.
While everyone is always welcome at the Museum, sometimes the crowds and noise make visits harder for neurodivergent visitors and those living with a disability. Some of the screens, lights and sounds around the Museum will be altered for the evening to make it a more sensory friendly experience.
Attendees can enjoy the Museum galleries and sensory backpacks will also be available to borrow free of charge.
Entry to the temporary exhibition Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of Year is included with your ticket to this event.
Please note, the Museum Shop and Cafe will not be open for this event.
In March 2018, the Museum was declared an Autism Friendly Venue by Autism SA. You can download the social story for general visits here. You can also download the sensory map here.
Tickets:
This is a ticketed event for people with sensory needs and their accompanying family, friends or support workers.
