In Sudan, there’s supposed to be yet another ceasefire agreement beginning in the next few hours, but with the previous truces broken, there’s little expectation that fighting will stop. In fact, the United Nations Aid Chief has told reporters that it will be hard to end the fighting because the warring parties seem intent on carrying on. Martin Griffith says he’s has spoken by phone to the two rival miltary leaders to try to guarantee safe passage of humanitarian aid after six UN trucks were looted. The conflict there has lasted three weeks, forcing almost half a million people to flee their homes, and leaving hundreds dead. FRANCE 24’s correspondent Bastien Renouil tells us more from Djibouti, where the international aid effort is being organised.
