Middleton Green Playground | Salisbury | Review
By Claire Davill
Tucked down a side street off Salisbury Highway is a quiet park packed with new playground equipment, suitable for fans of climbing as well as toddlers who like a challenge.
The toddler equipment is particularly impressive in this playground. It’s low to the ground and full of fun distractions but also includes some challenging aspects that you don’t often see in toddler playground equipment. The highlight is the wobbly balance beam with a handy slide-along handle on the handrail.
The toddler equipment also features activity boards, an abacus, multi coloured binoculars, a telescope, and a small slide. There’s a nearby rotating maze activity board, and an accessible merry go round with a seat nearby.
For the bigger kids, there’s an amazing amount of climbing equipment to traverse. There’s no shortage of ropes, planks, nets and climbing walls, with options to go high or low.
One end of the equipment features a curved-wall cubby with a nice big slide at the end.
The other end of the equipment features an even bigger slide, and near here there are climbing poles and a butterfly springy seesaw (suited to smaller kids).
There’s also a nice solid basket swing, regular swing and toddler swing, and a nearby puzzle activity board that takes a little while to solve!
Things to consider:
- The playground is unfenced, and the reserve is fairly small. Middleton Street is quiet, with little traffic, but you’ll still need to keep an eye on little ones.
- The playground is partially shaded by surrounding trees, but in summer it will be quite exposed. Make sure you bring sunscreen.
- All of the slides are metal, and could get quite hot in summer. Check the temperature before sliding down.
- There is a shaded picnic table, benches and bin here, but no toilets. The closest toilets are at Hollywood Plaza, about 1km away.
