Set Goals
Goals help us to plan and encourage children to think about the future. They are a great source of motivation and can help children work towards the things they want.
Try Not to Complain
Parents set a precedent for children, so you must be mindful of how you come across and the attitudes you display. Complaining about what you need to get done for example can lead to children developing negative assumptions and attitudes towards work.
Demonstrate a Strong Work Ethic
Also try to be active. Make plans and try to spend your time wisely, whether that be completing odd jobs around the house, or spending time with your children, it demonstrates productivity and good work ethic.
Show How You Deal with Struggle
Parents aren’t immune to challenges and struggle. We all encounter obstacles. By allowing your child to see that, you can show them that it’s a part of life and teach them to not be afraid.
Instil a Can-Do Attitude
Children also need faith in themselves that they can do the things they put their mind to. They must believe that success is possible and have a can-do attitude. This is something that you can instil with words of encouragement, praise, and reinforcement.
Start Early
There are lots of things that children can have a crack at, whether that be simple chores around the house, or fun projects they can work on. It will give them goals to work towards and develop their work ethic.
