Sporting Sustainability on April 29 | Sporting KC vs. CF Montreal
Launched in 2018, the club’s Sporting Sustainability platform aims to raise awareness around the impact of food waste prevention while utilizing educational tools to encourage the adoption of sustainable practices such as recycling, composting, water conservation and use of renewable energy sources. The collaborative platform unites eight prominent organizations – Sporting Kansas City, Compass Minerals, Missouri Organic Recycling, The Nature Conservancy, BIOLO, Dairy Farmers of America, Anheuser-Busch, Huhtamaki and Sun Solar – to achieve key sustainability outcomes across the Midwest region. The annual Sporting Sustainability night comes during Keep America Beautiful Month and builds off MLS WORKS’ Greener Goals initiative to rally the soccer community to have a global impact.
Soccer For All: Pride on May 31 | Sporting KC vs. FC Dallas
On the eve of LGBTQIA Pride Month, Sporting will again team up with the Kansas City Pride Community Alliance in conjunction with the club’s annual pride match in support of MLS WORKS’ Soccer For All initiative. Soccer For All signifies that everyone is welcome and Sporting’s pride match will celebrate inclusion for all who participate in sports including LGBTQ+ athletes, coaches and fans. In addition to recognizing the impact of individuals within the LGBTQ+ community, Sporting will join the League’s collective commitment to drive positive social change and support an end to discrimination.
Sporting Salutes on July 1 | Sporting KC vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC
In the lead-up to the Fourth of July, Sporting Kansas City will honor the service and sacrifice of military members and their families when the club hosts the sixth annual Sporting Salutes theme night at Children’s Mercy Park. The initiative is held in partnership with military units from both Kansas and Missouri and is highlighted by on-field recognition of servicemen and women as well as limited edition retail apparel for fans at SportingStyle locations.
Hispanic Heritage on September 20 | Sporting KC vs. Nashville SC
Sporting Kansas City’s first home match during Hispanic Heritage Month will see the club celebrate the history, culture and contributions of the local Hispanic community, including Latino businesses and organizations in the region. Fans are encouraged to follow @SoySporting on Twitter and Facebook for Spanish-language content from the club throughout the year, in addition to articles on SportingKC.com celebrating the Hispanic Heritage of Sporting players and staff, as Sporting prepares to participate in Leagues Cup 2023 alongside all 47 clubs from Major League Soccer and LIGA MX this summer.
Kick Childhood Cancer on September 23 | Sporting KC vs. Houston Dynamo
Sporting Kansas City and The Victory Project will co-host the popular Kick Childhood Cancer match on Sept. 23 in conjunction with Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Sporting remains at the forefront of this League-wide initiative to honor kids who are battling cancer and to provide opportunities for fans to support the cause through a variety of special events and experiences, including matchday honorees and recipients of Sporting Wishes. The Victory Project strives to enhance and enrich the lives of children with cancer all year long and is aligned in partnership with Children’s Mercy to support research to accelerate diagnoses in treatments.
Fan Appreciation on October 21 | Sporting KC vs. Minnesota United
In the final match of the regular season, Sporting Kansas City will thank supporters for providing an incredible home field advantage at Children’s Mercy Park all year long with the club’s annual Fan Appreciation festivities. The Decision Day match-up comes on Oct. 21 against familiar foes Minnesota United as Sporting will treat supporters to food, drink and retail specials as well as a variety of pre- and post-match moments designed to further enhance the world-class fan experience at Children’s Mercy Park.
