Both branches of the Halifax County-South Boston Public Library System will hold book sales starting Monday and running through Feb. 4.
“We received an incredible number of book donations around the holidays,” said Library Director Jay Stephens. “The staff has done a tremendous job sorting through the donations to select books that we need in our collections. Books that are in good condition that we do not add to our collections will be sold in the upcoming book sales.”
The sales will be open during the operating hours of both libraries. Hardbacks will be sold for $1, DVDs will be priced at $1 and paperbacks will be 50 cents. There will also be some special deals for shoppers.
“You can bring your own bags and boxes, fill them with your purchases, and pay $5 for each bag and box,” Stephens said. “If you purchase a library tote bag for $12 you can fill it up with books from the sale at no charge.”
The library is holding the sales in partnership with the Friends of the Library, an organization of community members that supports the library through fundraising and advocacy.
An individual annual membership in the Friends of the Library costs $5. During the book sale, anyone who joins the Friends of the Library and makes a book sale purchase of at least $5 will receive a 10% discount on the purchase.
“We’ve got a wide selection of books, including fiction, non-fiction, hardbacks, paperbacks and children’s books,” said Stephens. “There is something here for everyone.”
