Shayla Lawrence, MPH, is a Project Coordinator, Culturally Sensitive Global Oncology Program for the department of Global Pediatric Medicine.
Shayla joins St. Jude Global Pediatric Medicine with years of experience in public health, as a communications strategist in psychological and behavioral health and a public health coordinator with a focus on infant mortality reduction, maternal tobacco use cessation, and home visitation services for English- and Spanish-speaking families experiencing high-risk pregnancies in Memphis and Shelby County.
Her undergraduate areas of study were anthropology and foreign language. She received a Master of Public Health from the University of Memphis, with a master’s project focused on cultural and linguistic competence in maternal and child health care.
Born into a military family and living in Germany and California before settling in Memphis as a child, Shayla considers herself a lifelong Memphian. She has a deep love for the city, its food, music, and culture.
