Studio 100 Media and Macmillan Children’s Books have joined forces on “an exciting journey” to bring the pre-school television series “Vegesaurs” to books.
Nicole Pearson, publishing director for brands and media at Macmillan Children’s Books, acquired international rights, excluding Australia and New Zealand, in all languages from Joachim Knoedler, head of licensing distribution at Studio 100 Media. Two picture books will be published in spring 2023, with two storyboard books in summer 2023 and more to follow after.
“Vegesaurs” is produced by independent producer Cheeky Little Media in association with the Australian Broadcasting Company, France TV and Studio 100. It invites young viewers into a “unique and immersive world where healthy, natural foods come to life in the most playful and surprising ways”. Adventuring through Vegesaur Valley, the cast of dinosaur characters introduce viewers to different fruits and vegetables, “building in comedy, imagination and relatable pre-school themes”.
Pearson said: “We are delighted to be working with Studio 100 Media on ‘Vegesaurs’ – the show is a fun and comedic twist on the beloved preschool topic of dinosaurs which will captivate young children with its engaging roster of characters and stories. We can’t wait to extend the adventures of Ginger the Tricarrotops and her friends into books.”
Martin Krieger, c.e.o at Studio 100 Media, commented: “We are extremely happy to collaborate with Macmillan Children’s Books. As publishing partners, they are a perfect fit for this new brand. We look forward to developing our partnership in the coming years.”
Stephanie Barton, publisher at Macmillan Children’s Books, said: “’Vegesaurs’ is a brilliantly engaging series and we are very pleased to be the publishing partner for this new brand. MCB shares a core ambition with Studio 100 and Cheeky Little to engage children with humorous stories and to offer support to families through soft learning and our publishing will reflect this.”
